Poudre Education Association Announces Endorsements for PSD School Board Directors

Fort Collins, CO  —

The Poudre Education Association (PEA) has announced its recommendations for the Poudre School District (PSD) Board of Education: Karla Baise, Coronda Ziegler, and Andrew Spain.

“This slate of candidates brings a wide variety of perspectives and each is deeply rooted in PSD. We believe they will be committed to our community and our educators, advocating for equity, transparency, and accessibility,” said Candice Mozer, veteran elementary educator and PEA President.

Karla Baise – a CSU graduate, proud PSD parent, and Community Outreach Coordinator at Odell Brewing – is a strong candidate for the PSD Board of Education in District C. With over 17 years of experience building community partnerships, she brings proven skills in communication, collaboration, and advocacy. Her deep roots in our community, personal investment, and professional expertise will make her a committed board member.

Coronda Ziegler, PhD, a Student Success Manager at CSU, is a compelling candidate for PSD’s District D. With her role focusing on improving student experiences and outcomes, along with being a parent of two current PSD students, Coronda brings both professional insight and active involvement. This makes her a thoughtful and dedicated choice for District D leadership.

Andrew Spain, PhD, who is running in District E is strongly supported by his community roots. A PSD graduate, and parent of multiple past and present PSD students, he understands local families’ needs. Already appointed to represent District E, Andrew’s education paired with professional experiences will bring skills of administration and innovation to the board.

This PEA slate of candidates participated in a multi-phase endorsement process with the Poudre Education Fund for Kids. The PEA Fund is a body of PEA educators responsible for interviewing political candidates and making recommendations to PEA members.

With the announcement of these endorsements, PEA encourages Poudre School District voters to stand with educators and support their endorsed candidates.

“As an educator and PEA member organizer, I’m excited to support Karla, Coronda, and Andrew for the PSD Board of Education. This slate has committed to partnering with us to support our students, families, and educators and we look forward to working alongside them to advocate for strong public schools,” says Haleigh Alexander, PSD educator and PEA organizer.
